Though Shan was crowned Miss Gay America 1976, his title was removed and passed on to 2nd Alternate Dani Daletto. \u00a0Regardless of this, Shan was regarded highly by those who knew him. \u00a0He helped many through the years by coaching in pageants and was known for having a big heart.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Shan passed away in 1998 from complications of\u00a0HIV AIDS and is greatly missed by friends and family. \u00a0We salute the artistry that was Shan Covington!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Shan Covington was an entertainer out of Dallas, Texas.
