Darcelle XV was the illusion of Walter W. Cole, Sr and was an entertainer out of Portland, Oregon. A legend with contributions that run deep and stretch the country, Darcelle truly made an impact with all that she came into contact with.
In 2016, Darcelle was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as being the “World’s Oldest Drag Queen Performer”. In 2020, United States Department of Interior National Park Service recognized Darcelle’s club (Darcelle XV Showplace) which opened in 1969 by listing it on the National Register of Historic Places.
At the age of 92, we sadly lost this light in our community on March 23rd, 2023. We salute the artistry that was Darcelle.
