Buddy Brendle

June 20, 1939 – May 9, 2015

Buddy Brendle was out of Hickory, North Carolina but also had called Asheville, North Carolina home.

Buddy owned and operated the Cabaret in Asheville from 1977 through 1979 until he moved to Hickory and opened Treetops. By 1980, Buddy had met Jeff Reeves aka Nancy Newton, and together they opened Treetops Act Two which operated through 1983. In 1983, Buddy along with Jeff opened Club Cabaret. Buddy remained a partner with Club Cabaret through 2000, after which Jeff became the sole owner.

We sadly lost Buddy in May of 2015. He was remembered for helping so many in the community through the many years that he was involved in bars and pageantry. In 2017, Jerry Bird (owner of Gay USofA Pageantry), renamed their promoter of the year award for the Classic division to the “Buddy M. Brendle Award”.
